Entrance Competition

Win Math or IT Entrance Competition. Get into ITMO.

If you’re a non-Russian citizen and a Math or Informatics genius, you have a chance to pre-qualify for Bachelor's Degree Programs in those fields at ITMO University. Winning the “Entrance Competition” automatically qualifies you for enrollment, which means that you won’t have to take any other entrance exams and lands you in the company of other top minds. ITMO University ranks in the world’s top 60 universities in Computer Science, and our students and graduates are the only six-time winners of ACM ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest. 

  • The Entrance Competitions consist of the qualifying stage and final stage.
  • The Entrance Competitions are held remotely. All you need is Internet access.
  • The registration for participation in the Entrance Competitions is from 27 December 2016 to 25 February 2017. (Please, register here.)
  • There’s no participation fee.

You will receive problems to solve within five minutes of completing your registration. The registration is considered complete when the login and password arrive at the email address specified in the registration.

The qualifying stage takes place from January to February 2017 and includes two rounds.

Round 1: 5th January – 25th February 2017. Round Duration - 4 hours.

Round 2: 20th January - 25th February 2017. Round Duration - 4 hours.

The registered participants may at any time within the timing of rounds log in the system and solve round’s problems. The participant has only one attempt in each round. The results of participants will be published in the section "..." after the completion of each round, Results will be published at the end of the exam period, around 26 February 2017.The list of candidates for the final stage will be published at the beginning of March.

The Information about the form of the final stage of the Entrance Competitions will be published as soon as it is finalized.

Open Entrance Competition for high school students “Computer Science”

Qualifying stage:

Round 1: 5th January  - 25th February 2017. About 10 problems. Round Duration - 4 hours.

Topics: Information coding and numeral systems. Mathematical logic. Algorithmization and programming.

Round 2: 20th January - 25th February 2017. About 10 problems. Round Duration - 4 hours.

Topics: Telecommunication technology. Multimedia technology. Operating systems. Technologies  for information storage, search and sorting. Information processing in spreadsheets. Programming technology.

At the end of each round the participant may submit an appeal in the electronic form if he or she thinks that the answer is correct but written in different form.

The candidates for participation in the final stage are determined by the sum of scores for Round 1 and Round 2 of the qualifying stage.

The final stage will be held on March 11, 2017. It will contain11 problems on all topics of the qualifying stage. Information about the form of the final stage of the Entrance Competition will be published as soon as it is finalized.

Open Entrance Competition for high school students in Mathematics

Qualifying stage:

Round 1: 5th January - 25th February 2017. About 10 problems. Round Duration - 4 hours.

Topics: rational and irrational inequalities, inequalities with absolute value, domain and range of a function; systems of equations, text problems, progression, plane and solid geometry, vectors, derivastive, extrema problems.

Round 2: 20th January - 25th February 2017. About 10 problems. Round Duration - 4 hours.

Topics: exponential, logarithm and mixed equations, systems of equations and inequalities (probably, with parameter), trigonometry, plane and solid geometry, derivastive, curve sketching.

At the end of each round the participant may submit an appeal in the electronic form if he or she thinks that the answer is correct but written in different form.

The candidates for participation in the final stage are determined by the sum of scores for Round 1 and Round 2 of qualifying stage.

The final stage will be held on March 12, 2017. It will contain 8 problems on all topics of qualifying stage. Information about the form of the final stage of the Entrance Competition will be published as soon as it is finalized.
