Graduates of secondary vocational schools can get higher education in a shorter period.
It is possible to get the second higher education, including learning in two specialties at the Faculty.

The Faculty of Distance Education was established on the 8th of April, 1961 in accordance with the decree of the minister of higher and secondary special education of the Russian Federation № 834.
The Deans were associate professors A. Koshevoy (1961-1965), Chubik I. (1965-1968), Gruzdev I. ( 1968-1978), V. Malyshev (1972-1979), Shkirya I. (1979-1999), Malyavko D. (since 1999).
During this period, the Faculty has trained over 6500 professionals. 3260 students are training on all courses of the Faculty, including 1600 people with full reimbursement of training costs. Number of students rose from 1700 to 3260 people over the past 10 years. The desire to get higher correspondence education is growing all the time. The issue of this year was 335 people.
Most of graduates have good theoretical training with practical knowledge. It allows them to assume leadership positions in industry, the service sector, business.
Improving of technologies and the rapid growth of technical equipment of companies require constant updates of professional knowledge and deepening fundamental theoretical training. An extramural study is relevant in the implementation of innovative projects in science and higher education.
Students receive a broad general scientific, general technical and specialized training on modern database with using advanced information technology. They are trained in a single program with the students of the respective areas and specialties of daily faculties. The most experienced professors and lecturers of the university conduct traditionally lectures, laboratories and practical training at the Faculty. Students operate course and diploma projects and works on the subject associated with the profile of their work.

Improvement of the quality of training is a result of additional classroom courses with the students of the university organized by Facultys in conjunction with the institute of continuing professional education on topics of interests of students.
Innovative distance learning methods are improved and information technologies are introduced in the educational process to facilitate extramural learning and improve its quality.
The center for distance learning at the dean's office of distance educaions was organized in 2005.
The university has gained experience in electronic testing, developed methodological support in electronic form (manuals, guidelines, online tutorials), and introduced multimedia technology.
Virtual Labs are created and implemented in the educational process, tutors are prepared for a number of specialties; modernization of the library database is continued. Coordinating center for the implementation of virtual labs and workshops is established at the university.
