Biography

Alexander Vinogradov graduated from the Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology with a degree in chemical technology of refractory, non-metallic, and silicate materials in 2007 and a PhD in inorganic chemistry.

Further training

  • 2008 – completed a presidential program on managing training;

  • 2010 – did an internship in Germany on innovations management;

  • 2011 – took an advanced training course in modern methods of standardization and certification of nanomaterials at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology;

  • 2011-2016 – completed internships at the Leipzig University, Germany;

  • 2013 – did an internship at the Unit for Nanoscopic Characterization, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Research

Alexander Vinogradov started his scientific career with studying inorganic compounds obtained by sol-gel chemistry methods. He developed a unique method of low-temperature synthesis that makes it possible to produce ceramic crystalline compounds under room conditions and paid special attention to the photocatalytic properties of materials. In 2011, he changed his research focus to synthesis and research of coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks. Since then, he has synthesized no less than 6 new compounds, developed a unique device for growing crystals at room temperatures, as well as was part of the team that discovered several unique effects in the field of optics, photonics and selective drug delivery.

Current projects

Head of Russian Science Foundation's project in inkjet printing of optical nanostructures.

Research background

Mr. Vinogradov has about 60 publications in international scientific journals, including ACS Nano, Advanced Materials, Chemical Society Reviews, Chemistry of Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, as well as 8 patents, most of which are in ink composition for jet printing.

His major achievement is the establishment of a world-class laboratory with a highly motivated team of young researchers with an average age of 25.

Teaching experience

Mr. Vinogradov has been an associate professor and senior lecturer at the Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology where he delivered courses in materials science, physical chemistry of refractory, non-metallic, and silicate materials, and modern research methods. He has also supervised 2 PhD and 5 Master’s students.

Work experience

Alexander Vinogradov started off as a specialist in organizing presentations, exhibitions and conferences in 2004. In 2011, he was an associate professor at the Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology and was a junior researcher at the G. A. Krestov Institute of Solution Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Shortly after, he went to Germany to work as a postdoc.

In 2014, Alexander and his brother Vladimir Vinogradov launched the SCAMT institute (Solution Chemistry of Advanced Materials and Technologies), thus making their dream come true and giving young researchers an opportunity to unleash their potential in this field.
