Participants were invited to propose any ideas from the classic monuments, steles, memorial plaque to electronic installations. More than 200 applications, not only from St. Petersburg, but also from other regions of Russia, as well as from the Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, Canada, Indonesia and other countries were received. The finalists of the competition were 25 participants who were selected by members of the organizing committee, and also by the voting in the Internet.

"The primary goal of the contest - is to support young innovators in the IT-innovation. We would thus pay tribute to Steve Jobs and our city. St. Petersburg deserves the title of IT-capital of Russia", - said Dolgopolov.

First place went to St. Petersburg citizen’s project called "Solnechny QR". The monument looks like a stand; the top design is a solar QR-code. The design is as follows: white surface and the vertical pins, the height of which can be programmatically controlled. QR code image can be read only around noon. Each day, the figure changes, gets a new code.
Second place went to the Indonesian project, third – Russia, St. Petersburg.
The idea that won the competition will form the basis of the monument project.
