University Council of Science and Technology
The University Council of Science and Technology is a standing Presidential Committee that seeks to formulate University research policies and procedures and report these initiatives to the University President.
By statute, the Council draws its membership from across the University`s faculty and research staff.
The Council seeks to create a supportive and enabling environment for research at the University ITMO.
The Council is charged with helping to nurture a climate that encourages research as one of the primary missions of the University. The Council advises the President and the Vice President for Research on policies pertaining to the conduct of research, scholarship, and creative activities within the University. Members are appointed by the Academic Counsil.
The council is responsible for recommending to the president policies and procedures which will enhance the ability of the university to realize its potential for distinction in research, creative, and scholarly activities.
Duties and Powers of the Council of Science and Technology:
It prepares, analyzes and presents for examination of university governing body:
- suggestions to choose promising directions of evolution for research, development and technological works;
- suggestions about creating inter-college innovative scientific and technical projects;
- recommendations for creation, reorganization or liquidation of scientific university subdivisions;
- conclusions about works put forward by university for prize competition in Russian Federation and international prizes; conclusions about awarding honorary titles Honored worker of science of Russian Federation and Honored inventor of Russian Federation ;
- project of yearly plan of scientific and technical conferences, held with centralized support of university, and also suggestions about demonstration of university™s scientific achievements at expositions and competitive showings;
- project of training program and holding university™s teaching stuff conferences;
- project of plan of scientific publications, realized at the expense of university;
- project of documents, defining order of ITMO™s post-graduate students™ attestation, and also forms of financial encouragement of scientific advisers and post-graduate students.
