Yulia V. Ryabukhina, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, has been working for the University of Refrigeration and Food Technologies that later became part of the ITMO University for more than 30 years. She left it only to do the post-graduate studies at the Faculty of Philology of St. Petersburg State University where she had earlier received her first degree, and to a visiting post-graduate course at the University of Oxford.
Yulia Ryabukhina has taught English, French and German to undergraduate and post-graduate students of all Facultys and is an experienced teacher of foreign languages both for academic and specific purposes. Her long-term connections with various Departments of the University and inside knowledge of its administrative procedures (as she had various positions within the University throughout the years) have brought her to become Head of the newly formed Department of Foreign Languages in April 2015.
Practicing and certified teacher of English, Yulia Ryabukhina combines administrative work of the Head of the Department with research activities in the fields of linguistics and methodology of teaching foreign languages. She holds British PhD degree in linguistics, as well as Cambridge Proficiency C2 level certificate and many other qualifications.
