Valdur Aulisovich Aret was born on November 20, 1940 in Tallinn, he is a scientist in the field of Mechanical Engineering and Rheology, since 2001 – a Member of the International Academy of Refrigeration, since 1994 — a Member of the International Transport Academy, since 1985 — Professor of Theoretical Mechanics, since 1984 — Ph.D., since 1974 — Associate Professor of strength of materials, since 1967 — PhD candidate, since 1964 — a mechanical engineer.
From 1968 to 1973 — Assistant Professor, Senior Lecturer, Acting Associate Professor, Deputy Dean of the faculty of postal tuition of Tallinn Polytechnic Institute; from 1974 to 1990 – Head of the department, Vice-Rector for Research, for 9 years — Rector of Kemerovo Technological Institute of the Food Industry, from 1990 to 1991 — Head of the Department of Fishing Industry and Economy of the Kaliningrad Technical Institute, from 1992 to 1995 — Vice-Rector, the Rector of the Estonian Maritime Academy, since 1996 — Professor and Head of the department of Theoretical Mechanics, St. Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Technologies. In 2006 became the Head of Technology of Meat and Dairy Products Department.
Aret has published over 160 scientific and other works, including four separate editions, the textbook for higher educational institutions, Valdur Aulisovich Aret.
Is the author of 18 inventions. Five master's and two doctoral dissertations were done under his leadership. Aret developed a theory of simulative and invariant rheometry using invariant pattern recognition theory, worked on analytical and numerical calculations of the dynamics, strength and reliability of machines.
Aret taught theoretical mechanics, strength of materials, theory of machines, materials, calculations and design of machines, rheology and rheometry, programming, making of control and various training programs. Professor-tutor of website www.open-mechanics.com.
