Alexey Bobtsov

Biography

Alexey Bobtsov earned his Master’s degree in electrical engineering in 1996, his PhD – in 1999; and DSc (habilitation) – in 2007 from ITMO University. From November 1999 to December 2000, he was an assistant lecturer at the Department of Automation and Remote Control. From December 2000 to May 2007, Dr. Bobtsov worked as an associate professor at the Department of Control Systems and Informatics. In May 2007, Dr. Bobtsov was appointed a professor at the Department of Control Systems and Informatics. In September 2008, he was elected the dean of the Computer Technologies and Control Faculty. Currently, Alexey Bobtsov is a professor at the Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics and the dean of the School of Computer Science and Control.

Dr. Bobtsov co-authored over 400 journal and conference papers, 10 patents, 15 books and textbooks. His h-index in Scopus is 25.

Responsibilities:

  • member of the General Assembly of European Control Association.
  • member of the International Public Association “Academy of Navigation and Motion Control”.
  • senior member of the IEEE.
  • chairman of the Northwest Branch of the IEEE societies’ Section of Control Systems, Computational Intelligence, Robotics and Automation.
  • member of the Subcommittee on Nonlinear Systems of the International Federation on Automatic Control (member of IFAC Technical Committee TC 2.3. Non-Linear Control Systems).
  • editor-in-chief of Journal of Instrument Engineering.
  • editorial board member of the journals Automation and Remote Control and Scientific and Technical Journal of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.

His research interests are in the fields of nonlinear and adaptive control, control of oscillatory and chaotic systems and computer-aided control systems design with applications in mechanical and robotic systems.
