“Despite the fact that Russian experts use international experience in order to upgrade their skills in the field of scientific communications, it is not a full-fledged academic discipline yet. It is necessary to develop this field. Thus using our enthusiasm and international experience we are going to demonstrate that scientific communications are important not only for science, but also for social and cultural areas,” noted Dmitry Malkov, one of “SciComm Mission`s” organizers and Science Communication and Outreach Officer.

According to “SciComm Mission`s” organizing committee, knowledge of science communication may be useful for people who have both humanitarian and technical education such as researchers, PR experts working at universities and research institutes as well as museum coordinators and designers.

Participants of this training will learn a variety of science communication activities such as museology, analytics, science journalism, communicating with media and so on.  “SciComm Mission`s” program includes four modules: “PR and communication,” “Science journalism,” “Scientific figures,” “Science and public talks.”

To make this training effective and interesting organizers invited leading journalists, PR-experts, authors and inventors of popular scientific blogs, supervisors of science events, museums and centers. Some famous science communication lecturers such as Alexander Gerber, Brian Trench, Andrea Bandelli and Fred Balvert will give their lectures in English.

Moreover participants will get a chance to meet with potential employers. Each attendee has to choose one topic in order to prepare a project, which he or she has to present at the final day of “SciComm Mission.” All participants will receive a certificate of participation. The best ones will be offered a variety of internship programs by partnering companies.
