On October 24th, the XVIII International exhibition for means of state security provision “Interpolitex-2014" finished its work in Moscow. The forum opened its doors for the visitors on 21 October.

During the four days there were not only honored guests, among which were Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the Russian minister of internal affairs, Vladimir Puchkov, the Russian minister of emergency situations and Li Hui, the incumbent Chinese Ambassador to Russia but also a huge number of businessmen and journalists. During the exhibition inspection, special attention by the government representatives were paid to the new developments in the field of law and order protection and emergency situations' consequences elimination.

For the ITMO University, the successful demonstration of innovative developments in the field of security and numerous business and informal meetings, became the result of an active exhibition activity. The exhibition' exhibitors contacted actively with experts in related fields, representatives of commercial organizations, who are engaged in security area in its various aspects as well as with each other.

On the booth of the ITMO University, their latest devices, training programs and research, showed such organizations as the Institute of the light guide photonics, department of monitoring and forecasting information threats, Laboratory of quantum informatics, Scientific and research institute of the info-management systems, Scientific and technical and educational center "Programmable electronics». Among the demonstrated developments - converged communication system "KT 40D", software product EvenForecast, optical truly random number generator, quantum system of protection of classified information for fiber optic networks, multifunctional compact DVR with touch screen and wireless access through Wi-Fi network, specialized highly reliable uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), acousto-optic cable based on Bragg grating arrays, miniature industrial spectral sensor for visible optical range and many other devices and projects implemented by the university staff.

"During those several days, my colleagues and I were not just presenting some products, created on the basis of the university, but demonstrating our competence in general", Andrey Kulikov notes, candidate of technical sciences, docent, the head of the Laboratory of the light guide photonics. "Our activity attracted a great interest from the engineering firms, that produce fiber optic products and finished systems for the protection and monitoring of the sites. And now we hope that this interest will grow into a productive cooperation".

"Our developments attracted interest from the organizations that are engaged in the business security", Anton Vostrikov continues, the deputy director of the Scientific and research institute of the info-management systems in the ITMO University. "For them, we are now preparing more detailed information about our products and opportunities. Integration of our developments and technical means, made by those companies, may become the result of the collaboration".

Also for all those present at the exhibition was organized a vast scientific and business program. During the forum there were five conferences, five round tables, three workshops, eight presentations, dedicated to the most urgent problems of global security of the Russian state and its citizens.A total of about 70 speakers were there on the business events, and, by the way, not only from Russia.Despite the political sanctions, 64 companies from 19 countries took part in the forum. Italy, Germany, Israel, Denmark, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Republic of South Africa were among them, as well as many others. A total of about 500 organizations were involved in the exhibition.

It is an honor for the ITMO University to represent the Russian higher education at a forum of national importance and be among the companies and organizations who are presenting the latest innovative developments in the field of security. This is not only an evidence of competence and demand for university but also a sign that the university is moving in the right direction in the specialists' training.
