At the end of June 2014 a non-profit organization the "Fund of preseed investment", whose mission is to support and develop small businesses engaged in innovation and being in the early stages of development, has approved two investment projects developed in St. Petersburg. Scientific director of one of the projects is Professor Gennady Lukyanov, the dean of the Faculty of Physical Engineering of the ITMO University. His project "Hardware software complex of the heat measuring with the innovative heat flux sensor" will receive funding for the development and creation of samples of products for commercial sale.

The project is based on the nanoceramic heat flux sensor, designed by the scientists of the ITMO University. The main task of the sensor is to measure the amount of heat consumption in the housing sector, including residential areas. Using selected material makes possible to replicate the sensor in any quantity. Thanks to small dimensions and the manufacturing technology sensor can be installed on any heater and can give accurate values for the quantity of consumed heat. The opportunity distinguishes the sensor from peers which are not able to directly measure the amount of heat.

Within the project Gennady Lukyanov led the work on the creation of prototypes of products, scientific, research, engineering and development work, and also acted as a co-author of a patent of hardware and software complex.

The second project, which received investment from the Fund, was the work "Non-invasive biosensors for dynamic monitoring of the content of lactate in sweat and kinematic analysis of signatures under active motor loads". Both projects will receive funding in order to implement the development and launch them on the market.
