On June 11, 2014, ITMO University will present the results of the first stage of a comprehensive development project for the city of Kronshtadt - "Kronstadt 2040 Vision"- andwill officially announce the launch of the Urban Transformation School (UTS). The report is based on eight months of research of the quality of the urban environment in the Kronstadt area. The event will be attended by the Head of the Kronstadt District Terenty Meshcheryakov, research manager of the one of the programs of the School, and Vladimir Vasilev, the rector of ITMO University.

The "Kronstadt 2040 Vision" is a pilot project of the master's program "Design of urban ecosystems" at ITMO University. From September to April, specialists at ITMO University studied the specifics of the urban environment of Kronstadt and produced five different scenarios for the development of the district: "university city", "city-port", "city-hub", "city of the third age" and "Detroit city". On June, 11 these concepts will be discussed by the government representatives, business and the academic community, as well as by the leading Russian and foreign experts in urban planning.

Kronstadt is considered a unique platform where students and teachers can to implement the most daring and innovative design.

Established at ITMO University in 2014, UTS brings together four of the master's program and two laboratories united by the missions to give the students the opportunity to work with real projects and to develop practical skills.

The event will be held on June, 11 in the House of the Architect, 52 Bolshaya Morskaya street.
