April 4, 2014 the XXIV Jarnik International Student Mathematical Olympiad, the European Grand Prix in mathematics, was held in Ostrava, the Czech Republic. Students of the ITMO University took part in competitions and have shown excellent results.

The Jarnik Mathematical Olympiad is the first and the oldest in Europe among the competition in this field and is highly valued by experts. This year competition attracted more than 160 students from different countries around the world.

The ITMO University was represented by the following students:

  • Gennady Korotkevich (gr. 2539 );
  • Vitaliy Aksenov (gr. 5539 );
  • Javlon Isomurodov (gr. 2537 );
  • Alexey Latyshev (gr. 1538 );
  • Maxim Grandmother (gr. 6742 );
  • Yuri Alexandrov (gr. 3537).

All of them have shown good results and have made a good representation of the University at the Olympiad.

By the results of the contest Gennady Korotkevich, the student of the ITMO University, entered the top ten and received a diploma from the organizers of the prize-winner of the Olympiad.
