Institute of Entrepreneurship was established on September 1, 2018 by merging the Faculty of Technological Management and Innovations and Project Management and Innovation Department. Thanks to this integration, even first-year students have an opportunity to communicate with experts from the business industry, as well as work on their own projects, acquire entrepreneurial skills, and create startups while taking part in one of the Institute’s acceleration programs. ITMO.TECH is used as a subbrand for ITMO University’s innovation and business ecosystem.
The institute trains highly qualified specialists for the Russian economy, possessing advanced management skills, as well as advanced technical skills and expertise, ready to adapt to the rapidly changing environment and face the challenges of the 21st century.
Thanks to the unique interdisciplinary curriculum, our graduates can work in IT and other high-tech fields as data analysts, system integrators, IT consultants, business analysts, IT managers, project managers, innovation and business development specialists.
In 2018, ITMO University was ranked 7th in the ranking of elite universities according to the Forbes Russia, and topped the GoTech Innovation’ ranking which assesses Russian universities in terms of the number of IT entrepreneurs they trained.
The Institute collaborates with a range of leading companies such as Gazprom Neft, Yandex, Acronis, Autodesk, SAP, Biocad, InfoWatch; as well as venture funds and parnter universities, including RVC, Rosnano, Skolkovo, Kama Flow, UCLA, among others. The Institute’s students regularly participate in various internships and academic exchange programs in universities in the USA, Finland, the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Chile, Greece, Germany and other countries.
The Institute supports and develops the university’s global entrepreneurial ecosystem, helps its members to participate in exhibitions and startup conferences, conducts acceleration programs SUMIT and FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES, and hosts the ITMO.REGIONS network program. The Institute coordinates the creation and development of spinoffs (50+ companies) with the participation of ITMO University in different spheres like quantum communications, Video 360, Artificial Intelligent, food technologies, urban studies, etc.
