Entrance Competition

Win Math or IT Entrance Competition. Get into ITMO.

If you’re a non-Russian citizen and a Math or Computer Science genius, you have a chance to pre-qualify for Bachelor's Degree Programs in those fields at ITMO University. Winning the “Entrance Competition” automatically qualifies you for enrollment, which means that you won’t have to take any other entrance exams and lands you in the company of other top minds. ITMO University ranks in the world’s top 60 universities in Computer Science, and our students and graduates are the only seven-time winners of ACM ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest. 

  • The Entrance Competitions consist of the qualifying stage and final stage.
  • The Entrance Competitions are held remotely. All you need is Internet access.
  • The registration for participation in the Entrance Competitions is from 27 December 2016 to 28 February 2017. (Please, register here.)
  • There’s no participation fee.
  • To qualify for free tuition, you must also register here when registering for the contest. 

  

You will receive problems to solve within five minutes of completing your registration. The registration is considered complete when the login and password arrive at the email address specified in the registration.

The qualifying round will be held from 25 January up to 1 March 2017.

The registered participants may at any time within the timing of round log in the system and solve round’s problems. The participant has only one attempt. Results will be published at the end of the exam period, after 1 March 2017. The list of candidates for the final stage will be published at the beginning of March.

The Information about the form of the final stage of the Entrance Competitions will be published as soon as it is finalized.

Open Entrance Competition for high school students in Computer Science

Qualifying stage:

The qualifying round will be held from 25 January up to 1 March 2017.

The test consists of about 12 problems, topics covered: information coding and numeral systems, mathematical logic, algorithmization and programming, telecommunication technology, multimedia technology, technologies of information storage, search and sorting.

Once the test period is over, and participants can review the correct answers, they have an opportunity to make an online appeal if their particular answer is not written in the standard format, and thus marked as incorrect. 

The top contenders from the qualifying round will go on to the final round.

The final stage will be held on March 11, 2017. It will contain 11 problems on all topics of the qualifying stage. Information about the form of the final stage of the Entrance Competition will be published as soon as it is finalized.

Open Entrance Competition for high school students in Mathematics

Qualifying stage:

The qualifying round will be held from 25 January up to 1 March 2017.

The test consist of about 8 problems, topics covered: rational and irrational inequalities, inequalities with absolute value, domain and range of a function, systems of equations, text problems, progression, plane and solid geometry, vectors, derivatives, extrema problems, exponential, logarithm and mixed equations, systems of equations and inequalities (probably, with parameter), trigonometry, plane and solid geometry, derivatives, curve sketching.

Once the test period is over, and participants can review the correct answers, they have an opportunity to make an online appeal if their particular answer is not written in the standard format, and thus marked as incorrect. 

The top contenders from the qualifying round will go on to the final round.

The final stage will be held on March 12, 2017. It will contain 8 problems on all topics of qualifying stage. Information about the form of the final stage of the Entrance Competition will be published as soon as it is finalized.

To qualify for free tuition

All contestants, apart from registering on the olymp.ifmo.ru website, must also register on the Rossotrudnichestvo website completing the registration forms either in Russian or in English. This is a requirement for all contest participants who would like to get a scholarship. The registrations on one of the websites, not accompanied by the other, shall not be considered.

Competition finalists will be able to apply for a full scholarship (receive free education) at any Russian university that accepts foreign students.
