The Department of Integrated Systems for Technical Preparation of Manufacturing was created in collaboration with the Chief Industrial Engineer's Office of the Techpribor Jsc on December, 1st, 2001. Techpribor Jsc, founded in 1942, is one of Russia's oldest aviation instrumentation enterprises which focuses on development, production, certification and maintenance of on-board equipment of all planes and helicopters of Russian and CIS origin.
The computer class for training students in engineering and operating design is equipped with 10 work stations with CimatronE CAD/CAM systems.
Since 2001, the department trains students in such preproduction disciplines as:
computer-aided development of technical documentation and specifications;
geometrical modeling using CAD systems;
CNC equipment and control software;
integrated design-for-manufacturing system.
In 2007, as the university had the opportunity to buy modern equipment, it could change teaching methods, as well. As of now, the department has several numerical control machines and a quality control center.
NC machines HAAS Super Mini Mill and HAAS SL-10 have classical configuration and similar controls layout on all kinds of equipment, which makes training much easier. What's more, HAAS simulator stands allow to study the HAAS Fanuc programming system in class. This was used as the basis for the HAAS Service Training Center in 2008. The center is officially registered by the HAAS AUTOMATION Company as an acting training center. / Since 2009, the center provides training in maintenance of HAAS NC machines and the basics of programming in HAAS Fanuc.
For the micromilling laboratory, a precision 5-axis machining center PRIMACON PFM 24 was bought. The center can work with the accuracy of 0.001 mm, is fixed with the BLUM laser micrometer system, and the touch probe Renishaw system for tool setting. Maximum rotations per minute of 50,000 provides all the advantages of hsc-processing. The machine is fixed with a Heidenhain iTNC 530 stand; several simulator stands are available for studying the Heidenhain programming system.
The department also possesses high-quality control and measuring equipment for quality control. The DEA Global Performance 05/07/05 quality control center is used for measuring dimensions and controlling the shape of complex 3D details for operation monitoring of production and reference measurement.
Introduction of high-technology equipment can qualitatively improve the production environment, provided there is qualified staff to use it.
The department has everything necessary for conducting master's research and academic practical training, R&D projects, and preparing theses.
The department actively collaborates with other ITMO's departments, such as Instrumentation Technologies Department and Department of Mechatronics. The department's staff and students participate in international projects, for instance, the development and manufacturing of the set of frames of optical elements for Spektr-UV (World Space Observatory-Ultraviolet) spectrograph unit.
