History of the Department

The Department was established in 2014, but was renamed into the Department of Marketing and Communications in 2015. Current market trends determine the majors offered by this Department: marketing and innovations.

First master's program "Innovation Marketing" was launched in 2014, and the first student intake for the Bachelor program opened in 2015.

Department's Structure

Department's staff consists of experts with long-term experience for training marketing analysts and with experience of practical marketing and consulting activity.

Alexander Budrin

PhD in Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Marketing and Communications.
Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education in Russia.

Research interests

  • relationship marketing

  • territorial and international marketing

  • economics in marketing.

A. Budrin published more than 100 papers, including monography "Relationship marketing", "Business Collaboration in Market Environment", "Relationship Between Enterprises in Cluster Formation". He is a member of Dissertation Council. He trained eight PhDs and supervises Master's theses, Bachelors diploma papers.
A. Budrin manages the Master's program "Innovation Marketing". He developed tailor-made courses for Masters and Bachelors : "International and Regional Marketing", "Sales Policy", "Economics of Postindustrial Society".

Dina Solovyeva

Deputy Head of Department, PhD in Economics, Professor of the Department of Marketing and Communications.

Head of Inter-university Union "Marketorium". Head of Online Education Project, Organizing Committee.

Department of international and Russia-wide competitions in marketing.
Marketing expert with 25 years of experience ,practicing consultant in marketing research and market analysis.

Areas of practice: marketing research, marketing analysis, strategic analysis.

She works as a marketing consultant with Mega Auto, Aroma Royal Systems and distinguished local companies. Also had experience as a marketing director in a big retail business in St. Petersburg.

Dina Solovyeva specializes in research of marketing analysis. She has more than 100 publications including 10 top magazines in marketing and management. She is an author of monography "Theory of marketing analysis", co-author of several marketing course books and manuals .
D. Solovyeva supervises diploma papers, thesis research of Masters and PhD students, trained 10 PhDs. She is a developer of educational marketing programs for Bachelors and Masters levels. She is also a developer of Presidential Personnel Training Program. She is an author of various courses such as "Marketing Research", "Marketing analysis", "Market Forecasting" and so on.

Alexey Fenkin

PhD in Economics, associate professor of the Department of Marketing and Communications and of the Department of Technological Entrepreneurship and Innovations.
General Director of the FBK-Group marketing agency.
Expert in marketing with 10 years of experience, practicing consultant in marketing communications.

Areas of practice: marketing management in retail, marketing communications.

He headed marketing department of big retail retail chain in St. Petersburg and North-West Region. He was consulting and working with worldwide famous brand companies such as МТС, ROCKWOOL, Camper, Unicredit, Villa Paradiso, Baldinini and so on.
His research interests lie in the area of strategic development of the retail. He has publications in top marketing and management magazines. Alexey Fenkin consults Masters and PhD students and teaches courses: "Marketing", "Theory of Consumer Behavior", "Marketing Communications" for Bachelors and Masters.

Achievements and Benefits

Department is proud of a great amount of business and educational partners, that regularly take part in Department's events.

The Department’s staff now consists of five employees including one PhD, one professor and three masters of science.

Staff of the Department trained more than 15 PhDs and they have a practical experience in marketing activities and an experience of marketing management. Also Department's staff took part in the educational marketing projects, educational workshops and practical courses and in many consulting projects.
The main Department's feature is organization of annual international and national inter-university marketing competitions. Students majoring in marketing are encouraged to take part in such competitions. A creative initiative "Marketorium" was formed to hold such activities (Head is prof. Dina Solovyeva). Students have a chance to participate in different projects, to cooperate with companies and their representatives, obtain skills of team work, public presentation. Graduates are highly skilled and they can apply for positions as marketing managers, marketing analysts, marketing specialists in companies of different industries.
