The Chair provides Master’s program in Optical Digital Systems and Complexes.
The Chair was created in 1976 as the Chair of «System Engineering of Optical Devices and Complexes» on the basis of LOMO Inc., The leading optics manufacturer in Russia rich traditions in optic devices development and high technology potential.
The main task of the extra-mural Chair is to prepare specialists highly skilled as optical technology designers and ready to solve modern problems of optical instrument making. The Chair combines fundamental university education with real R&D work for LOMO Inc., which includes design of microscopes, medical instruments, night vision devices, laser technologies etc.
The Chair provides both specialist and PhD programs.
The Chair of Optical Digital Systems and Complexes has modern laboratory equipment and provides its students unique opportunity to work at real engineers’ and designers’ workplaces. Students can use computers, testing equipment of all LOMO Inc divisions and publications from unique LOMO technical library. Topics of student’ final papers are connected to LOMO research areas.
Involvement of students in all stages of LOMO’s R&D process results in the fact that the Chair’s graduates has excellent practical and theoretical knowledge and skills and can start their work at LOMO without any adaptation period. All students have a possibility to be employed by LOMO Inc after graduation.
Staff of the Chair conducted Research "Development of Optoelectronic Systems for Detecting and Tracking High-Speed Objects".
