The Chair is located on the territory of the Electroautomatics Design Office, and has been operating for more than twenty years. The Chair prepares specialists in aviation electronics (aviatronics) capable of the following developments:
- navigation, airplane navigating and special complexes;
- airborne computers and computing technologies;
- information and control area of the pilot cabin;
- functional software;
- aviation simulators;
- facilities for automated design of systems software and hardware.
Members and graduates of the Chair have taken part in developing various prototypes of domestic aircraft: Tu-134, Tu-204, Tu-160, IL-96, Yak-42, Mig-29, Su-27, Ka-50 ("Black shark"), Ka-52 ("Alligator") etc.
