The Chair provides general non-specialized training for students of five University departments on 16 disciplines of an electronics cycle. About 40 student`s groups are trained every year in the laboratories of the Chair, which makes 75 % of all the university students.

The Chair has four laboratories for students:

  • Electronics component basis;
  • Analog electronic devices;
  • Digital electronics;
  • Microprocessor systems.

The first of these laboratories is equipped with the automated workplaces for students on the basis of computerized complexes.

There are more than 100 laboratory set-ups supplied with corresponding facilities that cover all main chapters of the disciplines we teach in the Chair.

A general scientific direction of the Chair is research in the field of power electronics, with particular interest for non-stationary physical processes in power semi-conductor structures.

The Chair also carries out the applied researches:

  • Development of instruments and methods for non-destructive check of the electrophysical parameters and characteristics of the power semi-conductor devices;
  • Development of the new systems for the laser pumping media.

The members of the Chair have published more than 100 articles and papers in the authoritative journals and magazines.

The measuring instruments developed and produced by the Chair have been introduced at the 10 enterprises specializing in the semi-conductor instrument-making.

Among the most important recent developments of the Chair the following ones may be mentioned:

  • Unique measuring complex for checking the parameters of a super-power solid-state switching unit operating with currents from 4 000 A up to 120 000 A;
  • Pumping system for the power solid-state laser providing the pumping energy of 60 000 J;
  • Universal circuit for the medical laser pumping;
  • Methods and equipment for measurement of the current carrier lifetimes within low-doped areas of semi-conductor structures.
