The Control Systems and Informatics Chair is one of the largest divisions in the University.
The Chair provides preparation of the specialists in area of the automated control systems, applied cybernetics and informatics.
A frame of the Chair members scientific interests includes the problems of the modern theory of control systems and information conversion/transfer (telemechanics); applied informatics; robotics; radiooptics; electromechanical and optomechanical systems.
The Chair has been formed in 1945. During gone 50 years the Chair has prepared more than 5000 certificated engineers. About 100 young scientists have finished a post-graduate course and defended their Master theses, 11 persons have obtained the Doctor Science degrees in Technology. 3 Doctors and 12 Candidates of Science in Technology are among our teaching staff (18 persons) . Upon results of the attestation having been carried out in 1994 by the Commission of the State Committee of the Russian Federation on higher education, the Chair was awarded the 5th place in the Russia among the Chairs of similar profile.
The Chair students acquire the practical skills in operating the up-to-date control systems and their components in the laboratories of the Chair listed below:
- Electronic devices of the automatics;
- Electromechanical systems and robotics;
- Telemechanics.
Two computer classrooms at the Chair are equipped with a local network on the basis of 20 Pentium personal computers.
The graduates from Chair gain the skills in the following areas:
- Scientific research and design methods of the automated control systems and information conversion/transfer systems;
- Statistical methods of the process research in the technical, social and business system;
- Theoretical principles of the up-to-date microelectronics and electrical engineering;
- Theoretical principles of the digital technology, the up-to-date software of personal computers;
- Basic principles of business: management, marketing and logistics.
The graduates from Chair are able to the following:
- development and operation of the automated control systems used in various branches of the national economy;
- designing and operating the up-to-date telecommunication systems, the discrete (digital) devices of automatics, signalling and information transfer;
- operating the programmed numerical control systems of the up-to-date technological equipment;
- designing, programming and adjusting the up-to-date microprocessors for the control and adjustment systems;
- developing the mathematical models and scientific forecasting the activity results on the basis of the experimental data statistical processing;
- using the up-to-date software in the day-to-day activity: operating the application program packages for scientific calculations and modeling such as MatLab and MathCAD, serving the database with use of the FoxPro and Access, using the automated designing systems for the electronic devices OrCAD and PCAD, working in the Windows operational system and in its applications Word, Excel, PageMaker as well as in the electronic communication E-mail net and Internet.
Graduates of the Chair have an orientation on the following professional activities:
- Production and management;
- Design projects;
- Scientific research;
- System operation.
The high education level, the knowledge of the universal methods for the control systems research and design as well as the practical skills in the up-to-date software allow our graduates to find the jobs in the various industrial and commercial enterprises, services and computer centers.
