Head of Chair: Igor Yu. Denisyuk
Website
The Chair was created in 2002 for education in the field of new photonics areas such as the physics of quantum sized systems and devices for light switching based on them.
At present the Chair focuses on the area of physique and chemistry of polymeric and nano-composite optical materials, polymeric optochips and the systems of optical interconnection and processing based on them, specials parts of photonics.
The faculty of the Chair consists of highly qualified specialists. The Chair has labs equipped with up-to-date instrumentation. The graduates of the Chair undergo intensive training in Optical Physics, Polymeric and nano-composite material technology, optical methods of data transmission and processing, optical-physical measurements, laser technology, fibre and integrated optics, electronics, computer technology, Optical-electronic mass-media, foreign languages and others.
The broad student training in advanced and rapidly developing areas of polymeric optical chips and nano-composite materials enable the graduates to find job easily in labour market. Graduates of the Chair can work in research institutes and laboratories, in industry and business.
Staff undertake scientific work in polymeric optical chips and nano-composites in the library. The high level of scientific work is proved by numerous scientific projects, contracts and grants. To find out more about the scientific projects see the Chair`s website. Students and PhD students of the Chair take part in all scientific projects. For example, PhD student Maria I. Fokina received a first degree diploma for the best report at the International Conference ICEPOM-6 (2006).
Staff of the Chair have scientific partnerships with foreign universities and corporations. The Chair is interested in increasing its cooperation with foreign partners.
Staff of the Chair conducted Complex of Works on Research and Development of Polymer and Nanocomposite Optical Materials, Technologies and Systems.
