The Chair develops good international connections in scientific and academic activity. In this area the considerable contribution of the Department Dean Prof. S.B. Smirnov should be especially underlined. Under his supervision, the Chair has been involved in several international, educational programs, such as: extended education at the University of Helsinki for bachelors of science; a program for preventing youth crime; seminars on social and economic development in the Baltic countries at Stuttgart and Mainz; Long-term program of cooperation with Peking Mechanics Institute concerning the economic development of certain national economy branches. Within the framework of this program Chinese students are trained at our Department: the scientific and academic exchange with China continues. The leading specialists from Peking Mechanics Institute deliver lectures for our post-graduate students and young teachers devoted to the prospects and actual state of national economic development; different round-table discussions and exchange of opinions.
In today`s conditions with the usual deficiency of financial sources for university departments, the Applied Economics and Marketing Chair is actually well-provided for financing due to close links with enterprises under the leadership and coordination of Prof. O.V. Vasyukhin. He has succeeded in developing lasting business contacts and communications with the top-managers of leading Russian companies.
